Boxtop funds are used to support our school activities. In the past we've purchased wheeled coolers and ice packs for field trips, a giant Nesco Roaster (basketball dinners and other activities), helped to pay for the sound system in the gym... it's a great way to buy your groceries AND give back to school. ALPs Charter Attendance {Absences, Appointments, Pre-Approved Absences)

ABSENCES

Please call or email the ALPs office if your child is ill or has an appointment. Attendance is shared with Tipler Middle School staff and West High School (if applicable). 424-0349 Please leave a detailed voice message if the secretary is away from her desk. Knowing symptoms helps our health department track any/all illness concerns (stomach, fever, cough, etc.) Because your child could be anywhere in the school, knowing about appointments ahead of time helps us to have your child ready and prepared to leave/return to classes.

APPOINTMENTS

All visitors that wish to enter student areas of a school OR pick-up a student during school hours will be required to sign-in using the Raptor system (more details on our News page). Visitors that are simply dropping something off at the office or meeting with office staff will not need to use the system.

IF YOUR CHILD IS RETURNING FROM AN APPT. OR ARRIVING LATE TO SCHOOL

Students need to walk past the Tipler office and let them know they are signing in with the ALPs Charter secretary. Students will sign in upstairs in our office and receive a pass to class from the secretary. This process ensures that your child's attendance times are accurately noted, and informs the teacher that he/she has checked back in.

Governing Board

GOVERNING BOARD MEETING - WHAT IS IT?

Parents and staff meeting to discuss various aspects of our charter school. Meetings are informal and a great way to meet other parents. We discuss upcoming field trips, school events, fundraising ideas, curriculum, etc. There is no pressure to speak, and we do not "sign people up" for things. We appreciate your interest, input and the opportunity to get to know you better.

Parents, students and staff members

What is done during a meeting?
We begin with an agenda created by our principal and teachers based on the needs of our school. Additional topics brought in by parents are added to the "walk-in agenda items" and are discussed after the initial agenda has been discussed. We are highly respectful of the meeting time frame; if topics need more discussion, they may be tabled for the next meeting.

Do you need to sign up and/or attend all meetings?
NO. Please attend when your schedule allows it.

If I'm unable to attend, how will I know what happened?
Meeting minutes are shared with all families within a week of the meeting.

Diversity Club - Tipler/ALPs Charter

Diversity Club

Tipler/ALPs Diversity Club is an all inclusive club that provides a safe place for students to talk openly with each other about common struggles, feelings, and acceptance. Two staff members who have been trained in Safe Training and Mental Health First Aid will facilitate the meetings; and will provide opportunities for students to run the conversations during the meetings. Not only do students provide support for one another, they also discuss ways to get the whole school involved when it comes to diversity acceptance. What this club is not: it’s not a time where staff teach students about subjects of LGBTQ+ and Diversity but it is a safe place to talk about such topics and listen. This club is set up to meet the supporting needs for all students no matter their race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Duff or Mrs. Holmes.
